Pedro’s  presentation was a reflection of his experience in Canada, where he learned that the idea of a positive change is defined through the concepts of Social Justice and Anti-Oppression, and the way to achieve it is through social action, activism and action research.

Pedro Poblete is a 2009 Senior Fellow that recently graduated from Psychology last March. His field of expertise is Social-Community Psychology, with a focus on participatory development and action research

What Do Chinese Give as Gifts?

As a part of the Melton Weekend celebration, a MeltonShare session was carried out by two Junior fellows from ZU, Wei Dai and Yuze Yuan.
This presentation  leaded the  participants  into the museum of Chinese gifts and showed  the underlying stories of the exhibition. The presenters explained the the symbolic meaning of the gift as well as the byzantine history and culture under the surface.

CREATIVE TOOLS FOR SOCIAL CHANGE - By Rakes Kasturi (Young Sietar member)

Rakes’ presentation exploreed a few ways of going beyond selling ideas for commercial gain and creating social impact - using Fliptree's unique methods.

Rakesh Kasturi is a vehicle aerodynamics engineer based in Germany. He's also the co-founder of a performance collective called Fliptree, working on alternative theatre methods. Fliptree's special brand of shadow theatre combined with multimedia tries to re-interpret Indian epics and promote intercultural dialogue for a global audience.
