WorkGroup Presentations 2008-09

The Junior Fellows submitted the final deliverables of their workgroup after four months of extensive discussions, research, knowledge-sharing, and analyses. This half year (2008-09) there were seven workgroups that spoke about a wide range of topics - from the global financial crisis to music to online applications. Just as the topics were varied, their mode and style of presentation have also been distinct. Some chose to work on a report, some on a document that summarized their discussions and work; one group came up with a diary of their conversations and another went to the extent of preparing an 80-page resource book!

Here are the links to the different reports and deliverables of the workgroups (WGs): Please read them and give your feedback!

The WG Samskruti (meaning 'culture') prepared a small diary about their discussions.

WG WebFrenzy came up with an 80-page resource guidebook (with their review and screenshots) of some cool web applications available today, covering learning, productivity, connectivity, and entertainment. They've even made it freely available to the public. They also submitted a workgroup report.

The online publication of WG Economundo is a document that reflect the disscusions and information shared among the members.

The Great Debators WG discussed about politics, the study of power variables, power institutions, and power relationships in society and presented a paper with the topics that they talked about and researched.

WG Melomanos discussed about music, its history and what it means to each of the members. The deliverable of the workgroup is a document in which they have summarised their discussions as well as given links to music that they enjoy. They discussed issues like emotions in music, rock vs. classical, and inspired by this year's Symp theme they also discussed innovations in music.

The Movers&Shakers WG focused on social movements in different cultures of the world and presented a document with discussions of their motivation and outputs based on the intercultural experiences of the members.

WG FinancialCrisis shared a document where they have summarized their learning during their four months of discussion. They've also shared links to presentations which have been held and a WebEx session the workgroup members had with the members of Economundo.

WG Lensview decided to do a collage with a focus on stereotypes in the movies from the MF countries and how they are portrayed around the globe. The collage has movie pictures from a host of different categories, captions, and stereotype listings from all countries.

For this kind of sincere work and dedication, the Junior Fellows deserve a very big round of applause! These documents have been truly enriching. Share with us your opinions and feedback by clicking on the Add new comment link just below this article. Thanks!
